A Doljanchi or Dol is a Korean tradition of celebrating the first birthday of a child. Traditional clothing is typically worn and food, friends, and festivities are included as well. This particular party was for Chris. This little guy was all dressed up in multiple cute outfits and ready to pick his prosperous future. Items are laid out in front of him to choose his destiny. Doctor, Scholar, Sports Figure, or money for a future in wealth. Different items are laid out depending on how traditional the parents are, but it’s always fun to see which one the kids will go for. This time, Chris chose the ball, hmmm…maybe the next pitcher for the Dodgers?
The party was held in Crystal Cove in Orange County and catering was delicious. Fun games and toys were around for the other kids and the place was beautifully decorated. It was a pleasure to be here for my friends Peter and Susan and I hope a long and happy future for little Chris. Cheers!
