As Brad and Elyse discussed where they would like their engagement session, they suggested an early one, maybe a sunrise? Now if you know me, I’m not a morning person, but was enthusiastic for this new option as most of my clients would never suggest such a thing. I headed over to their house at 5:15AM, wanting to get a start on the drive out to the East Coast for the sunrise. We decided on Sandy Beach, an excellent lava rock filled beach on one side and clean sandy waves on the other. Unfortunately it was a little cloudy, but we managed to get the sun peaking out from below. Then we found some fun things to write in the sand, flowers to pick, and trees to stand under. Overall, 30 minutes of photos were better then nothing as it began to rain. We decided to postpone until another time and went our separate ways.
The next day I had heard that Brad and Elyse and their wedding party were hiking up to Makapu’u lighthouse. This was another prime opportunity for some great photos, so I grabbed my gear and headed over to meet them. With 16+ people, we hiked up this paved road with detours on the side and photo ops everywhere. With amazing ocean views and a lighthouse in the back, we got our exercise, our photos, and then headed to the beach for some relaxation and fun.
